Digital RoundUp: Successful Facebook Ad Campaigns

What better way to pass time on your Friday workday than by checking out our weekly Digital RoundUp?

This week in our Social Media Tips Q & A we shared some ideas for creating a successful Facebook ad campaign. Of course, one of the most effective ways to throw a top-notch campaign is to emulate those that have done well in the past. On that note, here are our top five Facebook marketing campaigns.

1. Oreo

Remember the “Dunk in the Dark” campaign from the 2013 Super Bowl blackout? Oreo had a team on hand to post a single image within minutes and, taking advantage of the enormous captive Super Bowl audience, the post went viral.

2. Burger King

One of the more controversial campaigns on Facebook, Burger King encouraged fans to “sacrifice” (unfriend) 10 Facebook friends to receive a free burger. The app even went as far as sending notifications to those who were unfriended, telling them they had been sacrificed for a burger. More than 23,000 coupons for free Whoppers were given away before Facebook shut down the campaign.

4. Coke Zero

The Coke Zero “Facial Profiler” was a free app, which used face recognition technology to let users compare their face to other volunteering Facebook participants. Once matched, users could contact their Facebook look-alike. The app went viral, with over 150,000 users in one month.
